Mental Toughness

Training my rugby 7s boys last week. Our trainer Dean Rice,ran them through some tough sets of 80x60x40 metre sprints then this gruelling exercise.

I push these guys hard. There is no substitute for hard work. These men have to be supremely fit,yet a major reason for trainings such as this,is to test their MENTAL TOUGHNESS.

I'm also looking out for the leaders..those guys who are still talking and encouraging their team mates and urging them on to finish the drill and to never give up. Guys who are prepared to lead and not be led.

"When the going gets tough,the tough get going" and this is never more so than on a sports field,when the lungs are burning and your legs are like jelly. It's easy to give in. The tough ones dig deep and push harder. These are the type of people you want alongside you in all walks of life.
